How do I purchase a fully functional copy of Bluebeam Revu?

You can buy Bluebeam software from our Online Store.

The trial version from the download page is fully functional. However, it is limited to the 30-day trial period. The Registration screen will display toward the end of your trial showing how much time remains. Once the trial expires, you will not be able to create or save a modified file until you have purchased a license. Are there any installation prerequisites?

The Bluebeam installation should download and install the required prerequisites without any action being required from the user.

I received an error during the registration. What does it mean?

The following are the most common errors received during the registration process. The information below will help you to resolve the error.

An error in the registration part of the installation does not mean that the installation has failed. Just click Use as Trial or Cancel and allow the installation to complete. You do not need to reinstall the software to resolve the registration problem.

Serial number and product key that you entered could not be validated

Invalid Serial or Product key

This error means that you are either entering the codes incorrectly or you are entering codes for the wrong version of Revu. Your serial number and product key are only valid for the version of software listed on your license Certificate.

Copy and paste the codes directly from the License Certificate email if you are trying to type them. The codes contain characters that look alike and are very easy to misread. Make sure that there are no leading or trailing spaces when the codes are pasted.

Check the version number:
  1. Open Revu or the Bluebeam Administrator.
  2. Click Bluebeam Administrator
  3. On the Help menu, click About
  4. The version number is in the upper left of the window,. Example: 2015.1 or 12.0.0.
  5. Compare this version to the one displayed on your Licence Certificate.
Number of authorised installations has been exceeded

Exceeded Number of Installations

This error means that the number of licenses has been exceeded and that you need to reduce the number by uninstalling on another computer. Please contact Advanced Spatial Technologies Support if you continue to have a problem completing the registration, and include your serial number along with a description of the problem.

You have entered a serial number for a different version

Wrong Edition

This error means that the serial number is for a different edition of Revu. The editions are Standard, CAD and eXtreme. For example, if the serial number is for Revu Standard and Revu eXtreme is installed, or if you are trying to complete the registration from the CAD plugins, but the serial number is for Revu Standard. Check the License Certificate email to confirm your license is for Revu Standard, CAD or eXtreme.

Serial number and product key entered is for an older version

Old Version Serial and Product Key

This error means that the serial number you are entering is for an older version of Revu than what is installed. Check the version that is included in your License Certificate and then check the version that you have installed.

  1. You may have found an old License Certificate. Find your current License Certificate and complete the registration with the correct license codes.
  2. If you don’t have a license for the newer version:

How do I move my licence from one computer to another?
You can move your licence by completing a two-step process while connected to the internet:

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Click Uninstall a program
    3. Select Bluebeam in the list and uninstall it

Note:Please refer to the Bluebeam Revu Compatibility Chart to confirm that the version of Bluebeam Revu you want to install is compatible with the operating system and associated software on your machine.

    1. Download and install Revu on the new computer.
    2. Enter the same serial number and product key that you received from Bluebeam.

Can I deploy Bluebeam Revu using SCCM or Group Policy across my network?

Yes. Our network deployment version offers administrators the flexibility to silently install Bluebeam Revu across enterprise computers in an automated fashion. A special build is available on the Enterprise Installation page, which also includes “A Guide to Implementing Bluebeam within Your Enterprise.”

Installation

Thank you for choosing Bluebeam Revu 2016! This tutorial shows you how to install Revu on your Windows computer.
Although this article covers Windows 7 Service Pack 1, the same instructions are applicable in Windows 10 and 8.1 with only minor changes.

Note: If you’re trying to deploy Revu to multiple computers, please refer to the Enterprise Installation page, which includes the MSI deployment packages and “A Guide to Implementing Bluebeam within Your Enterprise.”

1. Downloading Bluebeam Revu

These instructions assume you’ve already downloaded the installation file for Bluebeam Revu. If you haven’t done so, please go to the Downloads and Updates page and download the installer for the edition and software version listed on your license certificate.

2. Check your Windows Updates

Before starting the Revu installation, we highly recommend that you make sure your Windows Updates are current, and that any pending reboots have completed.

Note: A pending reboot may cause issues with Microsoft .NET Framework and Revu installations.

To find out if your computer needs to be updates, click the Windows Start button, type Windows Update and press enter. Look for "Windows is up to date".

Update Windows

Click Restart Now if you see a message saying "The updates were successfully installed" and telling you to "restart now to finish installing". This must be done in order to complete the Windows Update process.

3. Installing Bluebeam Revu
  1. Double-click the Bluebeam Revu installation file that you'd downloaded earlier to start the installation process.
  2. Click Next in the InstallShield Wizard dialog
  3. Select the desired language, if it's different than what's selected.

    install 1

  4. Read through the Licence Agreement carefully, click "I accept the terms in the Licence Agreement" if you agree to accept, and then click Next.

    install 2

  5. You may need to choose the product to install by clicking Standard, CAD or eXtreme, and then click Next.

    install 3

  6. Select your Install Options: Click Install to accept the default destination folder of C:\Program Files\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\2016 and then click Next.
If you want to install in a different folder, click Browse, select the new location, and then click Next to continue the installation.

    install 4

  7. During this part of the process, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 will also be installed if .NET version 4.5 or higher isn’t already on the machine, and it may take a long time in some cases. Please allow enough time for this to finish. Revu will not install correctly without .NET Framework 4.5 or higher.

  8. Click the Restart Now if you're prompted to reboot the computer at the end of the .NET Framework installation.

    install 5

Note:Sometimes the .NET Framework 4.5.2 reboot prompt displays behind the Bluebeam Revu installer window. If this happens, click the .NET Framework button in the Windows taskbar to bring it to the top, then click Restart Now.

    Install 6

Please allow time for the Revu installation to resume after .NET Framework is installed and Windows restarts. The Revu installation will resume automatically, but only after Windows has fully started and loaded all programs that start with Windows. If Outlook starts, it needs to be closed before the Revu installation can finish.

    Install 7

  9. When the Bluebeam Registration appears, enter the serial and product key listed on the License Certificate that was sent when the software was purchased, and click Register. Alternatively, click Use as Trial if you haven’t purchased a license yet, or would like to complete the registration later. Clicking Cancel skips the registration process and also activates the trial.

    Register

  10. Click Finish when the final installation dialog appears. Do not start Revu or the Bluebeam Administrator until after clicking Finish and the final installation window closes.

Enterprise Licencing

How does it work?

An Enterprise licence is a special licence key of Bluebeam Revu designed to help manage computer turnover. It does two things:

  1. Automatically releases registered computers that have failed to communicate with Bluebeam's licencing server for 15 days.
  2. Provides a temporary 5% overage of the total number of allowed installations.

In other words, once a machine takes up a seat by registering to an Enterprise licence, it will periodically ping Bluebeam's Licencing Server to confirm that it is still active. If the machine fails to communicate with the server for a period of 15 days, it will automatically be released from the Enterprise licence key, freeing up the seat to be registered to another machine. The 5% overage, or cushion, allows for the lag time between re-imaging workstations or releasing inactive seats. If you exceed the overage allowance, an "exceeded licences" warning will appear, and further installations will be restricted.

The benefit of Enterprise Licencing is that there is no longer a need to manually uninstall or release seats from workstations that are being transferred, phased out or re-imaged. This Enterprise Licencing option takes care of that for you, ensuring that your licenced seats are fully utilised. Plus, since it is managed with Bluebeam servers, there is no need to install or maintain anything locally. Simple.

How do I know if I have used all of my licence? Is there a charge for going over?

A usage report will be provided to you each month. If you are over your seat allowance, we will alert you so that you can purchase additional seats or unregister licences from computers. As there is a 5% overage allowance provided, additional seats of Bluebeam Revu can be purchased at any time and added to your licence. All new seat purchases will be based on the then current pricing with prorated maintenance, including the Enterprise option.

How do I qualify for Enterprise Licencing?

There are a couple requirements for Enterprise licensing, which you must fulfil to qualify. First, your licenses must be consolidated into a single license key by product. Second, annual maintenance must be current and maintained. Please note, Enterprise licenses are not intended for Citrix or other terminal server environments.

How much does Enterprise Licencing cost?

The cost for an Enterprise licence is an additional AUD$8 + GST per seat annually and is co-termed with your current maintenance date.
